The information and telecommunications specialist MATERNA Communications is presenting its patented innovation in the field of web-based and mobile voice applications, unique throughout Europe, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for the first time: VoiceFlash enables users to systematically control web content and user menus with their own voice input. With VoiceFlash it is possible, for example, to fill in online forms by speaking or hold information conversations in the form of a genuine dialogue with the web interface. In this way VoiceFlash becomes an attractive tool for all service providers, advertisers, authorities and companies that want to present their services on the Internet or on mobile phones compactly and in an entertaining manner. On account of its user-friendliness VoiceFlash also makes a major contribution to barrier freedom on the Internet.
At the MATERNA stand 1G05 in Hall 1 the company is showing a live demonstration that presents a video guide through the solution. A presenter explains the background and facts concerning VoiceFlash and offers anyone interested an opportunity to navigate within the application and make entries using natural speech.
MATERNA Communications is currently already working on the implementation of mobile web applications with service-oriented voice options. As a result, mobile phone users on the road will in future be able to request information by voice input or submit form or contact data without the trouble of having to type it in. Potential application scenarios include the requesting of timetable data by entering the desired places of departure and destinations by voice or quickly locating addresses from the Yellow Pages, after having entered the relevant keywords orally. The basic requirement for taking advantage of the services is that users have mobile devices that are integrated into fixed-line networks or mobile IP networks and have a voice input/output function, i.e. a mobile device or a PC with a headset for example.
VoiceFlash was developed on a joint basis and patented by the Cologne company .dotkomm, a service provider specialising in rich media solutions, and MATERNA Communications, a leading provider of voice service applications. .dotkomm combines state-of-the-art flash and video technology to create a video interface in which actors and presenters perform along with information boxes, animations, insertions, menu options, interactive forms and computers.
With its voice service platform MATERNA implements analysis of the voice data and uses it to provide the control channel between the user and the application. The solution can be made available in all West European languages and in all existing mobile telephony networks and fixed-line networks and can be easily used with standard hardware and software. The crucial difference from current solutions is the fully automated linking of voice and web sessions without having to enter a password or session ID.
