Innovative MMS competition delights visitors of the HTC Experience Tour – MATERNA Communications implemented cross-network delivery in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Over the past weeks, HTC Corp., the leading global manufacturer of smartphones based on Windows Phone and Android, went on tour with the HTC Experience Ball around Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 21 cities – 11 in Germany – the 120 m² ball was set up in popular public squares or city centres and consumers and specialist retailers were invited to take a fun journey into the smartphone world of HTC. MATERNA Communications supported the tour as the technical service provider for an accompanying innovative mobile marketing campaign.

Alongside presentation of the latest HTC smartphones and several interactive technology and design elements, visitors were also given the opportunity to take part in a very special competition: A photo of each participant was taken using a webcam and an amusing speech bubble added to it. After entering their mobile phone number, visitors received their individual photo by MMS on their mobile devices. In addition, they were told that they could collect a small surprise gift by presenting their MMS photo at a Vodafone shop (or A1/Telekom Austria shop in Austria and Swisscom shop in Switzerland) in the city the Experience Tour was visiting. All participants were entered into a prize draw for an attractive trip. "With our HTC Experience Tour, we invited all interested parties to experience the HTC smartphone world and new innovations using multimedia and interactive elements," explains André Lönne, Executive Director DACH at HTC. "Thanks to our partner MATERNA Communications, the guests also received a memento of their visit to the HTC Experience Ball sent directly to their mobile phone."

MATERNA Communications assumed responsibility for the technical realisation of the competition. This included processing the photo data, sending to all network operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and delivery to the mobile phone numbers provided.
