Machine-to-Machine communication introduced to social networks

MATERNA Communications is presenting the “Twittering thermometer” at the Mobile World Congress 2010 for the first time. Visitors will be able to test out live how each change on the measurement instrument results in the publication of a corresponding new value with Twitter. Behind the application is the M2M server of the telecommunications specialist which prepares aggregates and transmits the measurement values.
The data from 06machine communication (M2M) are usually analysed by creating a corresponding report or by publication via (web-) applications. However, if a large number of people are interested in the information, these methods have their limitations. One way out is to send the machine-generated information to social networks. These networks already use tried-and-tested distribution methods to numerous recipients and do not require the user to undergo special training.
The M2M server from MATERNA Communications has numerous interfaces for different backend systems for transmitting measurement data to social networks. The recipients therefore receive their M2M data instantly via Twitter, Facebook or instant messaging platforms such as ICQ.
Possible applications are the transmission of temperature data from houses or swimming pools, the recording of movement data via GPS transmitters, the calculation of energy consumption levels and the measurement of air humidity or the height of snow.
