VoiceFlash premiere: first voice-controlled web application in the hotel industry
VoiceFlash in operation
Dortmund, 2010-07-12
The MAVIDA Balance Hotel & Spa will in future feature an interactive video interface online. VoiceFlash will be used for the first time in the hotel industry. Using the technology developed by .dotkomm rich media solutions and MATERNA Communications, the user controls the entire interface interactively with his voice. The mouse is redundant, and voice input takes place via a commercially available headset or the computer's microphone.
Hotel owner Ilona Hagleitner greets guests in person on the homepage of www.mavida.at. She communicates directly with the visitor and guides him/her through the hotel’s facilities in response to specific requests that the customer can control by voice input. The visitor also has the opportunity to request a quotation.
“In the hotel industry it is vital to appeal emotionally to customers in order to convince them of what is being offered. VoiceFlash generates a personal and individual dialogue which is fundamental to achieving an excellent conversion rate in online channels,” states .dotkomm Managing Director Ralf Pispers. “In the MAVIDA interface we are opening up a new dimension for internet communication – entire internet applications are conceivable in future with VoiceFlash.”
VoiceFlash is made possible by combining a modern Flash server with an innovative voice platform. The speech recognition software – an award-winner at Voice Days 2009 – converts the customer’s voice stream into inputs and then controls the interactive video interface in this way. VoiceFlash is available in all Western European languages and on all existing mobile and fixed networks and can be used without problems with standard hardware and software.
“A personal atmosphere on the internet presence is particularly important to success in online business,” says Carsten Welge, Product Manager at MATERNA. VoiceFlash enables companies to overcome one of the greatest barriers in online sales – the anonymity of the way you present your offer.”
Hotel owner Ilona Hagleitner is convinced that she can “increase customer conversion rates and reservations using the interactive video interface and VoiceFlash technology.” August sees the video interface for the family’s second hotel, the HAGLEITNER Family Balance Hotel & Spa, go online – using VoiceFlash, of course.
