Financial Administration North Rhine-Westphalia decides on consulting know-how from MATERNA

ISO 20000 certification to conclude the project

Dortmund, 2011-02-03

Over the next four years the IT service provider MATERNA Information & Communications will be advising the State of North Rhine-Westphalia’s (NRW) Financial Administration on setting up optimised IT processes. The company won the EU-wide invitation to tender for “services to introduce IT service management for the Financial Administration NRW”. As part of the “itPlus” project, the authority is revising, standardising and aligning their existing IT service processes more strongly to the administration processes in the various authorities under their wing. MATERNA provides support for all of these tasks at the authorities from January 2011. At the end of the project, the Financial Administration intends to attain ISO 20000 certification so as to achieve sustainable service-quality assurance.

This project sees the Financial Administration NRW focussing more on their service approach to providing IT services to the authorities in the group. They intend this to improve the quality of the IT services which help the users to carry out their daily work. A continual improvement process will ensure that the IT services are constantly adjusted so they stay aligned to the needs of the users of these IT services for the long term. The aim is to ensure standardised, reproducible and controllable IT services.

MATERNA’s services include process consulting for all of the ITIL® disciplines, software-neutral advice, support with tool selection as well as coaching throughout the project. Specific tasks include, for example, analysing the existing situation, identifying potentials for optimisation as well as deriving, conceiving and implementing solutions. “We are delighted that we have been awarded this extensive consulting contract at the Financial Administration. As far as improving IT processes for our customers is concerned, we have already been doing this successfully for many years and have excellent IT service management know-how in the field of public administration,” states Dr. Winfried Materna, managing director at MATERNA.
