MATERNA Event Gateway for HiPath FM

The MATERNA Event Gateway for HiPath Fault Management (FM), in short the MEG, provides dedicated forwarding for HiPath FM events to other event-centred umbrella management platforms.

Via its ARS Ticket Creator module, the MEG connects the HiPath FM to BMC's workflow automation tool Remedy Action Request System (AR System). HiPath FM discovers technical faults and defects in enterprise telecommunication networks. It visualises the existence of a problem and supports the analysis of the underlying technical cause. A service process management workflow, on the other hand, manages and documents the process of fixing the reported faults. The MEG offers a quick and easy way to get HiPath FM events automatically converted into AR System trouble tickets to be further processed by related AR-based service management workflows. Thus, it seamlessly integrates fault and service process management.

Via its "Netcool Integration" module, the MEG provides integration of HiPath FM events into the IBM Tivoli Netcool Omnibus so that forwarded HiPath FM events show up in the Netcool Event Console. Events from the distinct HiPath technologies (HiPath 3000 / 4000 / 8000) are graphically represented in the Netcool Event Console in a normalised format. There is post-processing for related events, multiple identical events are consolidated into a single event, a HiPath 4000 alarm on is reset by the corresponding alarm off. Additional HiPath event-related information can be accessed from a HiPath event shown in the Netcool Event console, e.g. related errors or trunk groups can be displayed. This means that important information for fault analysis is now directly accessible for Netcool Event Console operators.
