Dr. Winfried Materna and Helmut an de Meulen, who currently manage the company as managing partners, founded MATERNA GmbH in Dortmund in 1980. MATERNA is internationally active in the information and communication technology markets and is divided into Information and Communications divisions.
In the Business Unit Information, MATERNA implements comprehensive IT solutions for process optimisation in companies and for clients in the public sector. The Communications division offers products and solutions in telecommunications for network operators and service providers.
The company employs more than 1,300 employees throughout Europe. MATERNA has branches throughout Germany and in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. In 2008 the company achieved a group revenue of EUR 160 million.
