Martin Wibbe, Chairman of the board of Directors and CEO
Since April 1st 2020, Martin Wibbe is appointed Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Materna Group. Martin Wibbe has gathered wide experience in sales and marketing of IT services. In his former role as a member of the Executive Management Board Germany at Atos IT Solutions & Services GmbH Germany, he has been responsible for sales and marketing as being the Chief Sales Marketing Officer Germany. Before that, he held several leading positions in sales, marketing and business development at Siemens IT Solutions & Services and Siemens Business Services. Martin Wibbe holds a degree in business informatics of the University of Applied Science in Berlin and an Executive MBA of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, and the Technical University of Munich.
Materna remains a privately held business
Dr. Winfried Materna and Helmut an de Meulen have transferred around 50 percent of the company shares to their children and thus consolidated the company’s character as a privately held business.

After pursuing a degree in measurement and control technology at the Gauss Engineering Academy in Berlin (Germany) and electrical engineering and computer science at the Technical University of Berlin, Winfried Materna received his doctorate in computer sciences from the University of Hamburg (Germany). Subsequently, he took over the management of a research project in the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Dortmund (Germany). In 1980, he founded Materna GmbH together with his partner Helmut an de Meulen. Both managed the privately held business very successfully for 35 years. Winfried Materna joined the Advisory Board of Materna GmbH on April 1, 2015 and relinquished his management activities.
From 1997 to 2004 Winfried Materna was President and was subsequently appointed Honorary President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Dortmund (Germany). In 2001, the State Premier awarded Winfried Materna the regional North-Rhine Westphalia State Prize for his outstanding services to the modernization of the economy and structural change of the state. In April 2008, the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia presented him with the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class. The award recognizes his decisive impulses for the successful transformation of the region and his massive commitment to threatened jobs.
Helmut an de Meulen, company founder
After completing his studies of mathematics and computer sciences at the University of Bonn (Germany), Helmut an de Meulen took on an assistant position at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Dortmund (Germany). In 1980, he founded Materna GmbH together with his partner Dr. Winfried Materna. Both managed the privately held business very successfully for 35 years. Helmut an de Meulen joined the Advisory Board of Materna GmbH on April 1, 2015 and relinquished his management activities. His special focus was international business with communication technologies.
Helmut an de Meulen is involved in various organizations for the promotion of young entrepreneurs. He is particularly interested in strengthening the Ruhr region. In January 2007, he was elected chairman of the association pro Ruhrgebiet e.V.. For many years, he has also been particularly committed to promoting start-ups. Furthermore, an de Meulen is a board member of the support association of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences.

Chairman of the supervisory board
Dieter Kraß is a member of the Materna works council, the SE works council and an employee representative on the supervisory board. He has been with Materna since 1985 and has been working in the Enterprise Service Management field for several years. As Principal Project Manager, he advises on the optimization and further development of project management processes at Materna across all divisions. Previously, he worked as a consultant and project manager, including for government customers in the area of portals and content management. He joined Materna as a developer and software architect in the field of document management. After his training as a banker at Deutsche Bank, Dieter Kraß studied computer science at the University of Dortmund.
