Michael Knopp is the new CFO at Materna
Dortmund IT consulting company Materna GmbH has consolidated its strengths by appointing a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as of 1 May 2017. Michael Knopp (50) has now taken up the position which had become vacant. He was previously the Financial Director at Süss MicroTec AG. Michael Knopp has many years of experience as the head of finance and as a commercial director in stock-market-listed IT and investment goods companies as well as in companies with international subsidiaries, so Materna can clearly benefit from his know-how. The company is becoming more and more active internationally and has several subsidiaries and branches abroad. Just a few days ago Materna announced that internationalisation was one of the key factors driving growth for the IT consulting company. Ralph Hartwig, the previous CFO at Materna, had left the company on 31 March 2017, after 10 years as head of finance.
“Michael Knopp is very familiar with company cultures within both medium-sized and internationally active companies. I am delighted that we have been successful in gaining such an experienced head of finance for our company,” says Helmut Binder, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Materna.
Michael Knopp spent almost ten years as the Financial Director and CFO at Süss MicroTex AG, in Garching, Germany. Before that, he was Commercial Managing Director at Kemmax GmbH, Essen, Germany, and at the same time held the position of CFO International Operations for the Canadian parent company Chemtrade Logistics.
From 1999 he was at Realtch AG in Walldorf, Germany, initially employed as commercial manager, he was appointed Financial Director after just a few years. He was also responsible for the company’s subsidiaries in the Asian-Pacific region and in the USA.
Knopp started his professional career with positions in the field of finance at Sensormatic Electronics GmbH, Gerresheimer Glas AG and auditors Wollert-Elmendorff Deutsche Industrie-Treuhand GmbH. Knopp studied business studies at the University of Bayreuth. Germany, from 1989 to 1995. Michael Knopp is married and has one daughter.
